OPERATION TAGHOY

The Wheat Ridge Rotary Club has formed a partnership with Uplift Internationale, to form cleft palate clinics in the Philippines.  Uplift International is headed up by Rotarian Dr. Jaime A. Yrastorza, a retired oral-maxillofacial surgeon.

 “Changing the world one child at a time” expresses our goal with this project.  We call our project “Taghoy,” which means whistle in the Filipino language.  So far, over 200 children have had this oral surgery.  Clinics have been established in Ormoc City and Kalibo.

 Our club has collected surplus medical equipment to be shipped to the clinics.  We also provide $250 per child for necessary supplies.  Our goal is to provide enough funds to perform 100 operations per year.
